12 String Acoustic Guitars
12 string acoutic guitars make the sweetest sounding music. Though difficult to tune, and harder to play, they give that wonderful full bodied sound that can sound like a full orchestra if played correctly. They are played the same way a 6 string guitar is played, but when you press down on what would be a single string on a 6 string, you are actually pressing down on two strings at a time. So, instead of having the strings go E - A - D - G -B - E, they actually go Ee - Aa - Dd - Gg - Bb - Ee. The second string is typically a little thinner than the main string and designed to resonate with the main string giving it that unique sound. Alvarez, Guild, Martin, Gibson, and Taylor make the best ones ones (read expensive), but high quality, but less expensive ones can be found from Washburn, Yamaha, and Epiphone.
