Left Handed Acoustic Guitars
In the old days before left-handed guitars became available, lefties were forced to play standard (right-handed) guitars flipped over. In fact, Jimi Hendrix was able to get some of the funkier sounds he created by doing just that. Jimi typically played a Stratocaster which when flipped over made the bass string longer than normal, and the high E string much shorter. This gave that distinctive sound where the bass notes sounded lower, and the treble notes seemed to have a higher pitch. On standard guitars this wasn't much of a problem in that the top three strings were inverse to the bottom three strings making the flip indistinguishable. Howver, lefties that prefer a cutaway design (great for playing leads) were left wanting (no pun intended). These left handed guitars will have the cutaway in the right place making leads much easier. Also, when flipped over, a right handed guitar will have the pick guard on the top, making the guard pretty much useless. On right-handed acoustic electric guitars, the cable plug will be at the top instead of the bottom when flipped over, increasing the chance of the cord getting in the way during play.
