Limited edition sports a unique body style, special finish, and separate pickup outputs.
Gibson USA's Guitar of the Month for November 2008, the Longhorn Double cutaway in Trans Blue, has a body design that consists of slightly extended, asymmetrical cutaways on a solid piece of mahogany topped with an AA figured maple top.
White three ply binding around the body and a traditional headstock add both beauty and protection to this electric guitar. And the improvements don't end there. A pair of EMG 85 active Humbuckers deliver tone, power, and performance for any style of music, while the L.R. Baggs electronics offer separate outputs for both the piezo and the humbuckers. This gives players the option of either blending the two sounds or using them individually, thus allowing guitarists all types of sonic possibilities.
The neck is one piece mahogany with Gibson's traditional '50s rounded profile, topped by an ebony fingerboard with white acrylic small block fretboard inlays created especially for the Longhorn. Also in keeping with tradition is the headstock's flowerpot inlay, which dates back to the early 1900s and several of Gibson's historic mandolins and archtops. The Gibson USA Longhorn guitar is available only in Trans Blue finish. Production is limited to just 1,000 instruments.
