Kurt Gemeinhardt's great grandfather was a flute maker, as were his grandfather and his father. A master designer and flute maker himself, Gemeinhardt spent years custom building some of the world's most sought after flutes. He finally emigrated from Switzerland to Elkhart, Indiana, where he designed flutes for 20 years before opening his own factory.

This beautiful and beautiful sounding flute is handcrafted in Elkhart, Indiana, exclusively for Giardinelli by Gemeinhardt. A fantastic value for a performance class instrument, it is an open hole model (French model) featuring an ergonomic offset G key for less playing stress and greater familiarity to players just graduating from a student model flute. The offset G makes playing fast passages easier and also makes it easier to cover the open hole with the finger. A solid silver headjoint produces a warm, resonant tone with clean, precise response. The gold plated lip plate is hypoallergenic, feels nicer than silver, and provides a very luxurious look. Silver plated body and foot joint are visually stunning and durable, maintaining precision alignment of the keys. Low B footjoint increases the instrument's range and improves the pitch of low C.
