10/13/08 - Some of you may not have realized that we are compiling a page listing free music lessons that are available on the web. If you have a website or page that offers free lessons for musicians, we'd like to add your link to our list. Just send an email to terry at domsys dot com, and if we like your page we'll add it promptly. Even if your page is about musical instruments that are not even listed, we may make a separate section just for that instrument.
A friend of mine was looking for a starter electronic drum kit, and on this page I found the Simmons SD5K Electronic Drum Kit for the closeout price of only $399.99. I was looking at this unit last week, and the price of it came down $50 since then. For a beginner or youngster looking to get into drumming, this looks like a good choice for a holiday gift. You might want to hurry though. At this closeout price, they're likely to be sold out in a matter of days if not sooner.
10/11/08 - I was looking for a relatively low cost powered mixer unit for my home studio, and was amazed at the prices out there. This Yamaha powered mixer package is a real nice setup if you don't want to bother going through
all the hassle of assembling a complete system by yourself. The core of this package is the portable Yamaha EMX312SC Mixer. This unit is loaded with power, features, and value. Dual 300 watt amps are set up for stereo or mono mixing and have separate main and monitor channels. It offers all of the special effects you would expect including echo, reverb, chorus, and more. With this unit you really don't need guitar or bass amps, as you can plug your whole ensemble directly into it. This package also includes
a pair of Yamaha's S112V 12" Club Series V speakers, a pair of AKG Vocal mics, microphone stands, and all necessary cables. Listing out at over $1700 for the package, you can get it here for $1069. For small club gigs, or practice, this package really cuts the mustard.
